Starting working on an 'Ahch-To is the Feywild' fic prettttyyyy much as soon as TLJ came out, seven separate vignettes around the theme of Rey and Kylo meeting on Ahch-To while looking for Luke, and how time moves differently there. I have three of those left to write, this one is from the one where the Knights of Ren (the ghosts of padawans Kylo killed at the academy) took him to Ahch-To to recover post-Starkiller, and have come to lead Rey to him as well as Luke.

There is a hole in the universe where the First Order should have been after their victory: instead, they have gone wholly silent, an empty inverse of the New Republic's scramble to put some semblance of life back together. Rey cannot shake the feeling that her ghost has crawled out of that hole, a trade for something no one quite knows how to speak.

No one has quite spoken the fact that Rey will not leave to search for Luke just yet, either, but the First Order's oppressive absence hangs over D'Qar like a shroud, and Rey knows that she must stay until it's lifted. She doesn't mind, not even though it means the ghost remains glued to her side. It's easy enough to stay out of the way, for the most part. There is no shortage of things to be repaired, and while the pilots are not precisely trusting of someone they still call Jedi like a curse, her hands are not bleeding and her belly is full.

The ghost in this case being Macha Ren, borrowed with deepest love from valsansretour and in my defence, Nina killed her first.

Well, snickfic and kore coined it as 'Thursday is for recs' but alliteration makes it more fun, no? Two recs, then, based off the very thoughtful metric of uhhhh 'most recently bookmarked'? On second thought they are both explicit, one for cannibalism and one for sex, so there's that as well! (...Does that even count as a similarity?) I will try to do this ... well, frequently, at least, though Thursday posting is occasionally my what-are-you-reading/playing/etc day. It is, if nothing else, a reminder to comment on things, because I feel weird reccing things I haven't commented on.

Two fics for exchanges that had story reveals on New Year's Day and author reveals yesterday today.

He lets her, though. Lets her nails rake bloody slashes down his cheeks, lets her pull his head down so her tongue can dip into the thorn-filled hollow where his eyes should have been. Used to be.

An exercise in body horror, dark!Rey, and Force Bond conversations. There were many reasons why I didn't actually do this exchange, but there are also many reasons I can never resist treating spooky when the opportunity arises. This may be the last Reylo I post for a bit, because I wanna focus on endlessness, but it was a wonderful note to pause on.

The most important thing, though, is that Cassandra grows up. Delilah isn't sure there must be a de Rolo in Whitestone, when the sun falls eternally winter-weak across bodies buried three deep in secret graves, but she's not taking any chances. She will suffer the girl's hatred as she grows into a woman, she will teach the girl manners and the woman magic, and together with Sylas and Anna they will turn Whitestone from a nothing of a town full of too many graves into a city where nothing will ever be allowed to die.

I wavered for a really long time about signing up for this, as I was unmatchable as a writer for a really long time due to the fact that I'm really only fannish about campaign one and the prevalence of 'oh boy those sure are some fluffy campaign one requests that would make neither of us happy, huh friend' in the requests summary, but settiai's Cassandra/Briarwoods prompt was irresistible, and I'm so glad I ended up going for it after all.

My request for many varieties of campaign one dark femslash went out as an initial pinch hit to probably no one's surprise, but my gift was perfect:

I sorta guessed my author, given that settiai had previously written me wonderful Cassandra/Delilah in femslashex and this had the same perfect kindly manipulative Delilah and the same earnest grey in-over-her-head Cassandra who doesn't know how to stop saying yes, and. Gods. It's glorious. Pls read and admire!

I like narrative fanmixes, where you can read chosen lyrics from each song one after the other and have them come out to something sensible, if not necessarily paragraph-sized. I also (you may have noticed) like stories in which Amilyn does not die or is resurrected. So! I'm sure there will eventually come a time when skyfaring as as symbol of confession/revelation/recovery will be overused in this fandom (...I'm really not, and I won't stop writing it even if that time comes) but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to treat a letter with both such lovely thoughts on characters at the precise moment of almost-death and an explicit request for a fix-it.

So now that smutswap author reveals have happened (ao3 bugs notwithstanding), which means I can post this! I wrote as now devotion will unfold for lionessvalenti, my first foray into writing Padmé/Sabé. This led to a longer title-hunt than usual, and by the time I found one, I had effectively enough songs for a fanmix. I did some refining of order and so on, and now: a fanmix, ten songs about mirroring and loving and leading a revolution. It's not necessarily a smutty mix in and of itself, but it's a collection of some of the themes and character beats I was trying to keep in mind when I was writing.
