femslash after dark 2021
Hello friend, it is time for dark and/or sexy femslash and I am so excited to see what you will write for me! If you want inspiration beyond this letter I am also
kimaracretak, where I have a small but reflective-of-things-I-like set of bookmarks, and kimaracretak on 8tracks if you want #aesthetic musical inspiration.
I love these canons for the worldbuilding and mytharcs as well as their characters and relationships, and I am easy to please as long as you stay away from my DNWs (both general and canon-specific), so don't feel like you Have to write any of my specific prompts. Don't read anything into relative lengths of sections, I am equally happy to get something for anything in this letter! Some of these prompts are reused from old letters, and if you have written them for me before, rest assured that I loved your fic, I am simply greedy and would like to see every possible take on my favourite scenarios. A lot of my prompts are very horror-slanted, but if your muse is inclined to things less murderous, feel free! That being said, I'm extremely not into plotless/conflictless fluff or 'soft' takes on these characters/relationships, and would prefer you avoid them.
I love everything from short introspection bits to long plotty missionfic to sex scenes as ways to explore character/setting/worldbuilding, and I don't need a lot of romance in my ships: sex for power, manipulation, or just between friends who want to have fun is also great. Please no unrequested ships unless specifically allowed for, but feel free to combine any compatible ones from my requested ones. Where I've requested 'Other M/E-rated Content', I'm mostly using it to opt into horror (body, gothic, psychological, folk, etc) that might not necessarily fall under the 'violence' umbrella.

General: This is a standalone novel about five women in an MFA program, and the ways in which they are wonderful-terrible to each other and regular-terrible to the men they create out of animal corpses. There's axe murders, academia tropes, and much fun to be had by ... well, some. It brings me joy. Perhaps it will bring you joy too? Prompts contain spoilers.
Caroline/Samantha Heather Mackey: Okay I am a creature of very simple desires. Sam was like 'I call her Cupcake because she looks so biteable/edible' and I'm like, sold. Trippy dream sequences where Sam feeds Caroline her own heart? Kinky bite-y sex? Weird horror and cannibalism? Sam making a version of Caroline specifically to eat and forcing Caroline to watch? Yes.
Caroline/Eleanor/Kira/Victoria: Feel free to focus on some or all of the component parts of the ship, I enjoy all of them. I'd like pre-canon or post-canon, focussing on either their early salons or how they find their way back to each other after Max. I think the book did a really good job of showing so many facets of their relationship through Samantha's unreliable eyes, but something from one of their own perspectives would be great.
Samantha/Ava: Extremely good falling-for-your-own-creation vibes! I'd love anything - trippy-creepy dream sequences, Samantha trying to remake Ava, AUs where Samantha doesn't lose track of her - it's all good.
General: CtL is the tabletop game of my whole entire heart and I just want to live in that world a bit more! I have a slight preference for stories set in Arcadia or the Hedge, but absolutely will not say no to Earth-set ones. Sourcebook-wise, I am most familiar with Dancers in the Dusk, Winter Masques, and Night Horrors. I especially love oneiromancy and am super weak for stories that contrast the deep sense of place/setting with changelings' very tenuous sense of self. I'm always here for body horror, but for this canon especially - when in doubt, lovingly cut someone's eyes out and replace them with flowers and/or gems. Adhere as strictly or loosely to game mechanics as feels right for your story.
Ambrosia/Original Female Changeling: Manipulation, identity issues, and exploitation of dreams: yes. Also very interested in how Ambrosia traps Changelings and gets them involved in her various heists/trades/schemes. Changelings finding refuge with Ambrosia and then realising she's worse than whatever they're fleeing is Very good. Ambrosia's wiki page, for reference.
Ambrosia/Original Female Gentry: Characters who want to kill and eat and become theirgods Fae are always a weakness of mine, and Ambrosia is no different. There's so much to be said with Ambrosia about mimicry and murder as acts of love and appreciation, and in the game more generally about what happens when you finally get what you want (and how it can be terrible), and I'd love a story that digs into that. Did someone capture the Gentry and bring her to Ambrosia? Did Ambrosia sneak into someone's mansion? For Gentry, I am much more fond of interpretations of them as eldritch/dreams/weirder manifestations of folklore-Fae than straightforward/Christian-inflected gods/demons/angels, but beyond that get as creative as you want with her! Ambrosia's wiki page, for reference.
Liz Malloy/Original Female Changeling: SO that bit in Night Horrors about how "her oath, however, is not with the Lost of the Emerald Court, but with the season of Spring itself, and Spring has not had its fill of Liz Malloy yet"? That whole entire thing is my favourite sort of thing, and I want to read all the stories about it. Liz bounty-huntering her way through the Hedge. Liz having some fun with a Changeling before sending her back to her Keeper. Liz joining a motley, developing a relationship with a Changeling, and then betraying her anyway. Time loops and body horror! I am not picky. Liz's wiki page, for reference
General: Did I think this would be a fun way to waste six hours while watching Lesley Sharp be hot and morally ambiguous in a trenchcoat? Yes. Did I end up with many more feelings than I had planned for? Also yes. I like worldbuilding and fucked-up codependency and know nothing about the anime(?) this was based on.
Farah/Rosalind: I cannot BELIEVE how specifically every single part of this ship was calculated to appeal to me, specifically. Like ... what part of 'We were the first fairies to combine our magic, I have a mentorship complex the size of the moon and accidentally committed war crimes for you, and then locked you in my basement for sixteen years out of guilt and love before you failed to kill me because you, also, have more grief and love than you know how to identify or deal with' was I supposed to not fall in love with? They're ridiculous. I'm obsessed.
Beatrix/Rosalind: Everything I love about Rosalind in the Farah/Rosalind context applies here too! I am really truly just spoiled for greymoral fucked-up mentorships here, and I'm curious about how Beatrix communicated with Rosalind over the years, and what Beatrix's role in Rosalind's Alfea would be.
General: I am several years late BUT I love this terrible demon lady who just wants to be (re)written into existence so she can do terrible things. This is extremely fun pretty horror told non-linearly and partially-fictionally. I love almost all of it, ending excepted, and I want more! I'm open to adding Marianne to any of the 'x/Emma' ships, especially with Marianne possessing the other woman. I'm happy with unhappy/not-together-by-the-end/one-sided/closer-to-& takes on any of these ships, and my character death DNW is waived for this canon.
Note: I'm fine with references to canon noncon, but would like a canon divergence so Emma doesn't end up pregnant.
Aurore/Emma: Tiphanie Daviot has gotten herself typecast as 'brittle supernatural magnet trying to move on after tragedy but actually becoming a mostly-reluctant almost-murderer of a woman she loves instead' and it's SUCH a good niche. Love everything about how fraught this dynamic is.
Camille/Emma: I love Camille and her switchblade and her reckless devotion to Emma.
Caro/Emma: Oh, Caro. First to believe and (almost) first to die, and while yes she probably was a little on the too-clever side to survive, I do wish we'd gotten more of her.
Marianne/Emma: The writer and the witch! In NO world was 'demon who needs to be written into the world in order to gain power/her chosen writer' not going to be my exact thing.
General: This show has a thesis of 'why be a girl when you could be an eldritch horror instead' because it loves me. I love the bonds and the backstabbing and the love-through-horror, I love the changeling girls and the amount of respect it gives stories of self-creation. I love the contrast between the suffocating boarding-school atmosphere and the equally terrifying 'I would like to let the sky eat me' of the Rock and how that's reflected in the characters' emotional relationships. Permadeath of any of the requested characters is fine for this fandom, as is ambiguous/show-consistent explanations of what happened at the Rock. The show does so much excellent work with forests that probably want to eat you/nature which tries to eat you/nature which wants to crawl inside you and never come out and I want to see infinitely more of it!
Dianne/Irma: I loved the glimpses we got of Dianne trying to help Irma readjust to linear time, her softer questions and her optimism in contrast to Irma's studied apathy that she pastes over her regret, and that would just be magnified by sex. Irma is so deeply concerned with appearances, while Dianne is - much less so unless forced to, and I'd love something that gets into that, or into Dianne trying to protect Irma from Hester. Alternately, futurefic for them - how do they cope over the next five, ten, fifteen years, seeking each other out, the last connections to so many lost friends? Epistolary fic, clandestine meetings, etc.
Greta/Marion: Secret relationship and mentorship problems, everything I love. Greta's so ambiguosly lost at the end, even more so than Marion and Miranda - does she ever find her way past the rock and into Marion's new world? What does that look like? Firsts - first meetings, first kisses, first times with various sex acts, first time a parent looks at those two teachers and wonders. Marion becoming a teacher at the Academy, either the mid-canon one or post-canon if Hester succeeded in building a new one, and what that might look like when Miranda and/or Irma are still lost, or perhaps she came back instead of Irma. Time loops where they try over and over to pass beyond the Rock together. One turning the other into a vampire. Sith AUs where they are going to find a way for Marion to be a Sith Lord that doesn't involve killing Greta ... right? (Or not, angsty betrayal also A++). One believing the other is dead, and attempting necromancy, especially if it involves sacrificing someone else.
Hester/Dianne: Hatesex and emotionally manipulative sensuality, yesss. There's an odd undercurrent of 'why aren't you better' that they both have towards each other (and themselves) and I'd love a story that lives in the lovely-awful tangled knots they tie each other into, and the ways in which they can't quite bring themselves to wish they were more like the other. I'd love to see an AU where Dianne accompanies Hester to the Rock or one where Hester and Dianne moved and built a new school out of the ruins of the first Academy. Any sort of post-canon fic where Hester haunts Dianne in her new position. Hester and Dianne as Dark and Light-aligned Sith (respectively?) disagree over the running of their school, Hester and Dianne as fellow (rival?) Gentry. Hester helps Dianne adjust to the Australian Masquerade, and how it differs from the one in France. Any kind of dreamsharing, any AU where it's more explicit that Dianne manipulated Hester into going to the Rock and jumping. Time loops of any sort.
Hester/Greta: Greta owes Hester a lot, and while she never goes to the lengths Hester did to keep her secrets (largely because Hester didn't care) I feel like they're both very aware Greta is on a very thin line there, and I'd love to see some exploration of that. I'd love something that leans in the loyalty kink - sexual or not, consensual or not (more dubiously consensual loyalty kink forever and ever). The whole ... we both know what the other isn't saying and why and we're both responding to that sort of conversation/mutual existence is so good, and I'd love more of it.
Hester/Miranda: I love how Miranda spends the whole series deconstructing Hester so deftly no one's quite sure what she's done til the very end. Maybe Hester sees Miranda at the Rock, maybe Miranda taunts her about Sara, maybe one of Hester's attempts to dress her up nicely backfires somehow. An extension of the punishment scene, especially one including Hester bandaging her hands afterwards instead of Irma and Marion, and the glorious emotional whiplash that could provoke. Miranda's space pirate crew blackmailing Hester's, Hester turning Miranda in a vampire AU.
Miranda/Marion: What do they find beyond the rock? I'm especially thinking about the folk horror here, of an entire too good to be true world, especially if it ends up driving a wedge between them. Time loops where they keep coming close to freedom but never achieve it - can't, maybe, achieve it because they don't have Irma with them?
General: Oh man, this weird little show. I wrote a huge amount here about it (full of spoilers!), and there were a lot of things I wish it had done differently but it also gave me so many fascinating building blocks. I was not wholly sold on the supernatural aspects of it, so this canon especially I would love to see a Changeling: The Lost or Vampire: The Requiem AU, to see what other supernatural things would look like with these characters and their pasts.
Fandom-specific DNW: Anyone but Sylvia as the single post-1x06 cult surviver. If you want to fiddle with things so that e.g. only Kendrick dies, go for it, but if you stick with the four deaths, I want Sylvia to be the one who made it out.
Matilda/Sylvia: They are very pretty and they should do terrible things with/for/to each other! The move - or lack of a move - from leader/sacrifice to prophet/angel dynamics is fascinating to me, and I would like to see it explored more than it was in canon!
General: Listen I'll fight Sally Wainwright in the Tesco's car park for many reasons, but this messy show about messy people is so close to my heart, and I'd love anything about these women and their relationships. I love all sides of the Julie-Gill-Janet-Rachel square, so fic combining any of these ships (e.g. Gill/Julie + Janet/Rachel, or past Gill/Janet + present Janet/Rachel) is fine. Feel free to bring in any elements of book canon that you like - I've read all three.
Fandom-specific DNW: Season 5 canon, Rachel/Kevin happening the way it did in s3. Set fic before then or canon-diverge so it doesn't happen (Rachel and Janet can still fall out over something else, references to Kevin leaking information are fine).
Gill/Julie: They bring me joy and I want more of them!
Rachel/Gill: Rachel would throw herself off a building just to get Gill Murray to look at her in Just the way she wants and I'm extremely into it (their canon dynamic is basically the foundation of my #unavailable older women in positions of authority like). They're on such a thin fine line between kindness and witholding, what happens when reckless devotion meets restrained care, and I'd love really anything that explores that.
Rachel/Janet: I love them as friends-and-lovers and I think trying to pin down the line between the two for them is ... useless at best and counterproductive at worst. They and the show are at their best when their relationship is allowed to be the most important thing to each of them, and just ... lean into that. More of women getting to say yes to each other & having that being fulfilling!
General: Clockwork Fairyland! What is there not to love? This weird little book snuck into my life and ruined me in the best way possible and I would love to be further ruined by any fic you write! I really, really loved the Changeling!Cathy faux-reveal and was a bit put out by its last-chapter reversal (all books can do with more weird changelings, lbr), so any Changeling!Cathy fic - or fic where she's human but grappling with the fact that she enjoyed elements of the time when she thought she was a soulless creature - is always adored. Background/co-existing Cathy/Laon ver welcome for any of these requests. If you're interested in the sex/kink side of things here are the tags I requested for all these ships in Femslash Kink last year, if you're interested in the 'Other M/E-rated Content' side of things, I have some horror-specific likes/prompts in this year's Multifandom Horror letter (short version: more cults, more Hunts, more people Coming Back Wrong(tm)).
Ariel/Cathy: Hello absolutely everything I love about obsession and multilayered power dynamics and dressing each other up to die!
Ariel/Mab: How was Ariel summoned back from the mundane world? How did Mab 'lay claim' to her changeling - did she get any pushback form other Faerie lords? Did Ariel ever think about defecting to another court, or is that not allowed by Faerie laws? AU where she did defect to another court, and how that influenced her relationships with both Mab and Catherine. Is necromancy possible in Arcadia? Came back wrong fic would be delightful. Ariel - or whatever's left of her - confronting Mab about the Hunt, before or after it happens. Flower- and plant-based body horror, from hanahaki disease or otherwise. Mab seduces Ariel (by murdering other people).
Cathy/Kasdaye: I mean - "Have you not wanted to speak to me all your life?" makes me want pre-Arcadia Cathy dreaming of/dreaming with Kasdaye, but I would also love an AU of the masquerade where Kasdaye does succeed in telling Cathy's fortune, and how everything changes unexpectly from there - would Cathy still kill Ariel, knowing Kasdaye had already seen her do so? Kasdaye trying to take over Ariel's position as Cathy's guide in Arcadia after the Hunt, or time that they spend post-canon together in Pivot. What are Kasdaye's fae friends like, what dream cults might she be a part of, what happens if she brings Cathy deeper into her world? Kasdaye's a super neat temptress-and-oracle fusion that gets right at all the things Cathy's upbringing has taught her to fear, but in a way that's canonically more appealing than Mab's presentation of the forbidden, so I'd love something that plays with that.
Cathy/Mab: Changeling Cathy! Either one where Mab made her before sending her off into the mortal world, or one where Mab decides to turn her into one at some point during/after the events of the book (look ... we don't know how Changelings are made, it's totally possible). I wasn't entirely sold on the 'Arcadia = literally Hell' conceit of the ending, so maybe something where that was Mab's real lie? Human Cathy becomes one of Mab's courtiers in exchange for Laon's life/freedom. But, look, Cathy killed someone she liked to spite Mab, even if Laon's soul was also playing some part in that decision, I am gonna be super into whatever you write for them! Arcadian adventures and rituals, Cathy-as-servant, Cathy-as-toy, Arcadian politicking ... all excellent. Post-canon time in Pivot or Elphane, Cathy discovering Arcadian myths and legends and sticking her nose in where it doesn't belong. What does Arcadian regional horror look like? Mab fucking around with Cathy's dreams - visiting her, pulling elements of her dreams into reality.
Kasdaye/Mab: Pre-canon! I love Queen-and-Lady stuff, and Kasdaye's blood-soaked fortune telling, and how wonderfully, beautifully, awful-in-all-senses-of-the-world fae bodies can be.
General: I have a deep love for half-dead half-forest women and this show has truly left me spoiled for choice amongst them! Sad cops? Tired medical examiners? Girls with disturbing archery skills? Old bartenders possibly as old as time itself? I love them all! Gimme creepy things in the forest and I'm in love. Character death DNW waived for canonical deaths in this fandom.
Camille/Laurène: I ship them a lot, requited or not - all of Camille's yearning for approval through her guilt combined with Laurène's unwillingness to get too close despite her affection combined with the literal murder. Camille dying at Cora's feet whispering I'm sorry about the Major (not 'Laurène' not 'your mother') gave me more feelings about them than I know how to deal with!
Camille/Marion: They're not that far apart in age, which makes what happened to Marion almost worse. They knew each other! They were probably friends! Maybe even lovers!
Cora/Marion: I love the idea that Cora was in love with Marion, and I'd love to see more of the fallout of that, whether Marion reciprocated or not.
Laurène/Leïla: Leïla is under-loved! I feel like they would have the sort of relationship that looks totally normal and healthy from the outside (childhood friends/occasional lovers!) but that is ... not that, because, well, they are themselves and Villefranche is Villefranche.
Laurène/Marion: It is a terrible idea and I am extremely into it.
I love these canons for the worldbuilding and mytharcs as well as their characters and relationships, and I am easy to please as long as you stay away from my DNWs (both general and canon-specific), so don't feel like you Have to write any of my specific prompts.
- Pre-canon first times, especially ones that lean into the mentorship aspect of their relationship. Night before battle sex, how the hell did we survive that sex.
- I firmly believe Farah's not dead, and I'm really curious if they've played around with the very thin line between life and death before, whether that's risky sex, edgeplay, or full-on death-and-resurrection.
- Rosalind reaching out from her prison to touch Farah's mind - whether that goes in a dreamsharing direction or a 'Rosalind instructing Farah how to get herself off, and Farah guiltily going along with it because she misses her so much.
- Miscellaneous song prompts for the Vibes(tm): Katatonia's 'We Must Bury You' (Forgive me for covering my eyes / Forgive me for not saving you / Forgive me for being so unwise / Forgive me for letting this be true), Blackbriar's 'Walking Over My Grave' (Is that you dancing in front of my future headstone? / You will be the death of me, I feel it in my bones / I might as well dance along with you), Lord of the Lost's 'Cut Me Out' (Fear casts the longest shadow / Turning your heart into glass / No, don't you move or we both will break)
- Everyone repeats that 'everyone' was in love with Emma, and there's no reason that shouldn't include Aurore. Something about them realising (and purposefully ignoring?) their feelings during their teenage years?
- TIME LOOPS. Marianne's good at timefucky things. Emma trapped in a loop at the lighthouse, finding Lucie's body and thinking she's dreaming, except it changes to Aurore's and she realises there's More going on? Or seance timeloops?
Camille/Emma: I love Camille and her switchblade and her reckless devotion to Emma.
- More of Marianne possessing Camille! Especially if it's not a particularly obvious possession - even though Emma's looking out for Marianne - and
- Time loops. I'm not even sure what of, just, time loops.
- Creepy-tinged sex in shared dreams that they try to ignore, but end up being unable to.
Caro/Emma: Oh, Caro. First to believe and (almost) first to die, and while yes she probably was a little on the too-clever side to survive, I do wish we'd gotten more of her.
- Ghost!Caro haunting Emma post-canon.
- Came-back-wrong Caro returning mid-series - after Marianne leaves her mother, maybe? What does that change?
- Caro keeping track of Emma's writing career, maybe making the same connections to real-world events, and trying to reconcile that with the girl she used to love.
Marianne/Emma: The writer and the witch! In NO world was 'demon who needs to be written into the world in order to gain power/her chosen writer' not going to be my exact thing.
- Dead? / So much more than lives, as the kids say, rent-free in my head, and I would die for any exploration of what happens in a world where Emma makes it to the city with Marianne.
- Involving Camille & Marianne's possession of her in some way! Marianne possessing Camille early on, even pre-canon, to get closer to Emma, with all the fucked-up identity questioning that involves. Or, I fully believed for a bit at the end that Marianne was not dead and had taken Camille and/or Camille's voice - what if she had?
- Pre-canon, something about how their relationship evolves the more Emma writes.
- What if Emma really did succeed in killing herself in 1x08 (or Marianne succeeded in killing her)? Would Marianne actually have let her die? The show strongly implies the answer is NOPE, and I'd love to see the repercussions of it. Also: this is an excellent opportunity for time loops, where Emma keeps killing herself and Marianne tries to make her stop.
- What if Emma had tried to write a 'good' end/redemption for Marianne? What would have happened?
- In-universe books! Lizzie Larck is basically Emma, and I'd love an excerpt of one of her scenes with Marianne in the books.
- Body horror! Sylvia emerging from the ground part-plant, Sylvia forcibly trying to give Tilly angel wings, Tilly growing her own wings...
- Folk horror. The show itself is ... sort of folk-horror-y, but I, as usual, want more. More of a sense that the landscape (and to some extent the house) matters, more about Blaidd Caregg, more about the ways the cult interacts with the land, more about Sylvia and Tilly's attachments to/disaffection with Penllynith. One of the big questions the show asks is, 'How do you return to a home someone stole you from in order to 'rescue' you?' and wow is folk horror uniquely equipped to answer it! It sort of gestures at a couple of answers for Tilly, but I'd love to see her explicitly explore than with Sylvia.
- You know the tag that's like 'Emotional Manipulation As Both Hurt And Comfort'? That. More of that for them.
- Pre-canon fic: first meetings in 80s Manchester, times they've fallen into bed together and it's not gone anywhere and the mixed feelings they might have - or not have! - about it. Although I don't want fic centreing homophobia, societal or internalised, I'm fine with it being present, in a referenced/period-typical way if you go pre-canon.
- Post-canon fic: how does Gill cope with retirement? How does Julie help - or, good intentions aside, not help?
- Post-s3 comfort sex.
- Anything incorporating Janet and her friendship with Gill. Janet as matchmaker/voice of reason/support, Janet dealing with complicated feelings about Julie taking a role in Gill's life that she can't fill, Janet as part of an OT3 if you're feeling threesomes.
- AUs where Gill dumps Dave earlier and gets to stay at the Crime Faculty/NPIA, and how that affects their relationship. I was good at that job, I loved it, I was born for it breaks my whole heart, and I'm very interested in how staying there might give her more confidence to pursue a relationship with Julie earlier.
- Post-season 4 fic that explores their relationship once Gill's retired. What changes? What doesn't change? Where do they go after I'm so proud of you?
- Any porn exploring their power dynamics. Rachel wanting orders but not wanting to ask for them, Gill enjoying - perhaps too much? - the extra dimension of power that gives her.
- AU where Rachel gets to take her Sergeant's exam the first time and what that changes.
- I live for their friendship, and would love to see them in a friends-and-lovers situation. Or, as the freeform tag goes, '#Let's Not Worry About Defining This Relationship Let's Just Keep Kissing'. Canon, but they keep managing to steal kisses and not think too hard about it until something (Sean's proposing?) makes them.
- Any type of canon divergence where Rachel dumps Sean instead of marrying him. I know making the worst possible choice is just Rachel being Rachel sometimes, but I'd like her to not have to for once - to take a step back and realise that won't end well, or for Janet to maybe realise she's projecting her own feelings about (the loss of) marriage onto Rachel and she doesn't have to.
- Like, I mean, 'Do you really want to stay at ours' she wanted to say yes so badly let Rachel say yes to Janet - friendship, sex, romance, any/all/weirdly in between those things - instead of saying yes to a man because she thinks she has to.
- Casefic, and, if you're wanting a specific prompt, what casefic centred on them looks like in the aftermath of Helen Bartlett's death. S2 touched a bit on what the failure of system does to Rachel specifically, but Helen's case was a failure of Gill's, who Janet and Rachel not only trust but model themselves on, and while s4 gestured at some answers ... I'm not completely satisfied with them. So.
- Rachel making a pass at Janet, instead of bringing Kevin home, and Janet's fear of adding - or acknowledging - that dimension of their relationship leading to their fight.
- The potentially disasterous intersection between 'Rachel's entire authority THING' and 'that point in s3 where Janet is absolutely her superior officer'. Because, look, 'I can call you ma'am now if you like' x all those times Rachel's knelt in front of Janet's desk ... that has lived in my head for the better part of a decade at this point. I refuse to be the only one.
- I would love some of Ariel's POV on the novel's events - she has a sort of resignation to liminality about her that I find fascinating. What if she had been given more time to convince Cathy she was a Changeling too, or chose to use sex to prove that they're more alike than Cathy wants to admit?
- Ariel trying to sell Laon or Cathy to Mab in exchange for the other's safety, and what happens when the siblings find out about it.
- Resurrection and its attempts. Mab resurrects her and gives her to Cathy as a present, and they try to figure out what to do with that? Cathy resurrecting her on accident because she doesn't understand [magic Arcadian thing]? Ariel comes back (and back, and back, and back, and wronger each time)?
- Ill-advised wanderings into the depths of Arcadia, especially if that's an excuse to dig into the myths and religions and folklore of Fae or Changelings - what stories have they developed that Ariel and Cathy might stumble into in this land where everything's just a bit too real?
- Also intrigued by the possibility of them meeting in the mortal world sometime before Cathy travels to Arcadia - what would that meeting look like, what kind of traps might Ariel try to set (at Mab's encouraging?), would Cathy notice something off about her?
- More about the Hunt! Ariel and Cathy dressing each other up the morning before the Hunt. Murder is the highest form of aesthetic appreciation in Arcadia, so after the Hunt it falls upon Cathy to resurrect and marry Ariel, because they are obviously destined to be with each other.
- Some kind of time loop, either while they're waiting for Laon to come back or during the Hunt. Time loops where only one is trapped, time loops where it gets worse every time, time loops that one of them shoved the other into to try to protect her.
- Flower- and plant-based body horror, especially stemming from the hunt. While I don't like the true-love part of hanahaki I do love the 'cursed to choke on flowers because of your complicated relationship with someone else' part - maybe Cathy's cursed after she kills Ariel?
- Killing someone together - Laon? Mr Benjamin? Attempted or temporary murder of Mab, and the consequences?
- Camille and Laurène meeting in some liminal death-space.
- Laurène dying over and over again to stay close to Camille and coming back worse each time.
- Time loops, especially time loops around the moment(s) of one of their deaths.
- Laurène making the forest give her Camille back so they can (try to) have some of the conversations they didn't have in life.
- Laurène accidentally bringing Camille back, simply by going to the forest and talking with her.
- Anything that picks up on the crow motif, espcially some kind of shapeshifter!Camille who could become a crow — or who becomes one after her death, and haunts Laurène like that.
- Anything where Camille either survives or comes back somehow, and Laurène takes advantage of Camille's guilt to manipulate her into helping during the events of s2.
- Reunion sex that does not make anything better but that makes most things easier to forget.
- 2x04 AU where Camille - or the idea of Camille - visits/haunts Laurène instead of Hermann.
Camille/Marion: They're not that far apart in age, which makes what happened to Marion almost worse. They knew each other! They were probably friends! Maybe even lovers!
- Any sort of AU where Camille was the one who dies. How does Marion cope with being a murderer, accidental though it might be?
- Dream sex, especially dream sex that turns into nightmarey body horrory sex.
- Far-future fic where a Camille who survived finds an old woman in the woods and realises it was Marion the whole time.
- AUs where Marion only mostly dies, and a half-forest half-Marion creature comes looking for answers.
- 2x04 AU where Camille - or the idea of Camille - visits/haunts Marion instead of Hermann.
Cora/Marion: I love the idea that Cora was in love with Marion, and I'd love to see more of the fallout of that, whether Marion reciprocated or not.
- Angsty first-time-that-is-also-the-last-time sex, especially if one or both of them have some idea that it is the last time.
- Dream sex, before or after Marion's death.
- Marion comes back wrong! Part forest, part ghost, something else — Cora trying and failing to love her back to normal, or Marion having to work to earn back her trust while not being sure she deserves it.
- Necromancy! Cora going to Sabine for help, or trying to do research with librarians of dubious morality on her own.
- Roleswap: Marion tells Cora about the thumb drive earlier, Cora goes missing instead of Marion, and Marion tries to help her best friend's (girlfriend's?) mother grieve, while knowing her father is probably somehow responsible and she needs to figure out how to expose him without also going missing.
- For pre-death fic, slice-of-life archery practise/exploring the forest/environmental activism would be lovely.
Laurène/Leïla: Leïla is under-loved! I feel like they would have the sort of relationship that looks totally normal and healthy from the outside (childhood friends/occasional lovers!) but that is ... not that, because, well, they are themselves and Villefranche is Villefranche.
- Established relationship with some casefic. Creepy forest casefic is Always good.
- Pre-canon fic exploring how their relationship changed when they both moved away for school. Did they feel like they could finally get together outside of the small town, or did the lack of the forest drive them apart?
- Friends-with-benefits who always end up sleeping together after a rough case.
- Something exploring the fallout from Leïla's capture in 1x05.
Laurène/Marion: It is a terrible idea and I am extremely into it.
- Cora vanishes instead of Marion, Laurène 'bad coping mechanisms' Weiss starts sleeping with the girl her daughter loved to be closer to her.
- Creepy but gentle dubcon influenced by their mutual connection to the forest.
