thursday recs are all about horror
Work's been a horrorshow recently and I have compensated by, uh, reading/watching a lot of horror? And then looking for fanworks and being disappointed that so little of it actually leans into the horror! Like, do you know how many Magnus Archives fics I backbuttoned out of even after filtering out the 'Fluff' tag because it was all soft girlfriends in no-apocalypse AUs? It makes me sad, friends.
So: some f/f recs, alphabetical by fandom. Mix of fics tagged for horror and fic for horror canons. Mind the AO3 tags even more than usual, I suppose.
Black and White and Red All Over. black swan (2010), lily/nina. 1.6k words, rated e. by
scioscribe
Beautiful and strange post-canon fic.
life, starring you. dare me (tv + book), tacy cassidy. 2.4k words, rated m. by
ODed_on_jingle_jangle
It's a mix of book and show canon (keeping Beth and Tacy as siblings but picking up after the end of the book). Pitch-perfect character study of Tacy as she tries to take Beth's place once more.
Golden Ticket. hannibal (tv), abigail/beverly. 7.1k words, rated m. by
Selden
Combination come-back-wrong AND women-shaping-other-women-into-a-weapon fic? Yes excellent.
pale purple petals and strangling fruit. star wars sequel trilogy, amilyn/leia. 700ish words, rated t.
Southern Reach fusion with the prettiest of plant based body horror and so much joy.
[ART] Little Red Riding Hood. the magnus archives, basira/daisy. rated t. by
fandom_The_Magnus_Archives_2020
Hunt!Daisy, Red Riding Hood!Basira, absolutely stunning body horror and wolves and flowers and ahhhh it's so pretty.
holding darkness in. the silmarillion & other histories of middle-earth, aredhel/thuringwethil. 1.7k words, rated t. by

Lily has trouble taking on the role of the White Swan.

Beth almost died. That’s what she has to compete with. It’s a pretty tall order.
The more Tacy thinks about it, the more she realizes it can’t actually be topped. Not with any of her conventional ideas, like screwing an older guy, or driving drunk, or twisting an ankle during a routine.
The more Tacy thinks about it, the more she realizes if she cannot top Beth, she has to match her. Tit for tat.

Abigail Hobbs can raise the dead.
One person from the dead, to be precise.
She brings back Beverly Katz.

On the flower moon of Endor, everything is changing. The expedition is lost and only Leia remains intact.
Southern Reach fusion with the prettiest of plant based body horror and so much joy.

what are you doing in the woods?

Unsavory things thrive in the absence of light. Something darker comes to inhabit the lonely house in Nan Elmoth.
Spoilers: Eol gets chomped.

WHY so little Black Swan fic, fandom? Damn. I should write some (except I was a bb ballerina for years and then told I would be too tall, so I have Feelings about it, hah). (Madame was right: I shot up to six feet at 14 or 15, about seven years after she made the pronouncement.)
